SYDNEY: A flight from China Eastern to Shanghai was forced to return to Sydney because of an airplane in case of an emergency, a spokesman for the airline said on Monday, with images showing a huge hole in the casing of one of the engines of the airplane. The aircraft, flight data tracking website FlightAware proved that it was an Airbus A330-200 party, landed without incident and there were no injuries, said Kathy Zhang, general manager of China Eastern Airlines. "The crew observed the abnormal condition of the left engine and decided to return to Sydney airport immediately. All passengers and crew were safely disembarked," he said. Photos published by various Australian media have shown great division over a meter long in the left engine casing of the aircraft. A spokesman for Rolls-Royce, which manufactures Trent 700 series aircraft engines, said in a statement: "We are aware of the incident and will work closely with our customers and partners to understand the cause of the problem. Professor Jason Middleton, an aviation expert at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, said it appeared that the engine cover was ripped forward from the main blade of the compressor. "When one of these things happens, it often does not know how the damage started. It could have started from mobile life," he told Australian Broadcasting Corp. News. The Australian Transportation Safety Bureau said it was studying the incident. Zhang from East China said a full investigation would involve aviation authorities from Australia and China. "The engine of the aircraft is a big problem, which should be investigated by governments, with Rolls Royce and our head office," he said. The television station Seven News reported that passengers heard a noise shortly after the flight MU736 took off and then could feel the flame before returning the robbery. "We went in the air and suddenly we heard a noise ... it was something like a fire." "Oh, I was scared." "Yes, I was very scared." Our group was terrified, "an unidentified passenger told Seven News. Another passenger, identified only as Eva, said the cabin crew tried to calm the passengers and told them to fasten their seatbelts after hearing a noise. "We were very panicked because we had no idea what was going on," he told Channel 9 television.
